So I’ll join with the earth and I’ll give my
praise to You

Twelve years ago, while playing on stage and gazing out at the audience in the elegant surroundings of Detroit’s Fox Theater, Lincoln Brewster thought he was
on his way to pop music stardom. At 23, he was the lead guitarist for rock superstar and former Journey front man Steve Perry, belting out hit after hit,
absorbing the applause, and living the rock star life. He didn’t think it could get any better.
Then
God stepped in.
“And
I’m so glad He did!” Brewster tells Apostles That Rock with a laugh. “The big
difference between that life and my life now is very simple – purpose.
Back
then, we were there for us; the crowd was there for themselves and what they
were going to get. But now,” he beams, “I’m there for the Lord and for them.
It’s all about encouraging people to connect with God and hoping and praying
that God will use you as a conduit to change somebody’s life and to bring glory
to Himself.” Looks can be deceiving, Brewster realizes, but God’s grace always
clarifies the deception.
“Being a secular or a
Christian musician looks very similar,” he states. “But the purpose as a
whole, that’s the part that’s invisible, and that’s the big difference.”
It
wasn’t long after God’s touch that Brewster immersed Himself in the Lord’s
direction. “I remember going to church and just getting lost into worship.” Lincoln still leads his California home church in worship, as well
as traveling extensively throughout the world to lead others in worshiping the
Lord.
“Worship is encouraging people to say two things to God: one is Thank You,
and the other is I Love You. Music is a great way to encourage people to
do that.
We
can sometimes discount gifts that God has given, not just to individuals, but to
mankind as a whole, and I think music is one of those. I love when you hear a
song and it just moves you to tears and you feel closer to God through that.
I’m just grateful that God has given us the ability to enjoy it, to appreciate
it and to be moved by music that entirely focuses on His Greatness.”
I’m
living my life for You
I’m giving everything to You
Not holding back, but every part’
I’m giving it all to You
- All to
You
“That’s a song which is
a blatant shout of proclamation saying, ‘I’m giving it all to You! I’m
turning everything over to You, in everything that we do, in all that
we’re involved in.’
Musically, it started
with a little shuffle groove and that’s a good example of music making
you feel a certain way. The words came together to focus our lives
entirely on His Purpose and His Will.”
