This is what I want to say to you
If I had one chance to tell you something.
You are loved more than you can imagine.

-  You Are Loved

by David Dodd

She began her musical ministry focused on the important of abstinence and purity for young women.  And in the years RSJ has been preaching these words through her actions and music, God has instilled yet another one of His virtues in the 28 year-olds heart – His Love.

“The love that I’ve found in God is why I do what I do,” Rebecca tells Apostles That Rock, “because I wouldn’t have any other reason to get up on stage.

Music actually wasn’t my first dream when I was a kid, I kind of had two dreams - I wanted to get married and have a family, and then I wanted to work in an orphanage or work with kids.  And you know God and His plan had a better idea for this season of my life.  Through doing music, I’ve actually been able to serve a dream of working with children.  I work with Compassion International and because of that I’m able to reach a lot more kids by encouraging people every night to sponsor children so thousands of kids are able to be reached instead of a couple hundred like with my idea.

I love being able to see kids being sponsored because I’ve been overseas and I was able to meet my sponsored child so I’ve been in these countries and seen how sponsorship has totally changing these kids lives.  I’ve also sponsored children and have seen how it’s encouraged not only me but my family.  I’ve had people come up to me and say thank you for telling us about Compassion because it’s changed our lives.

God’s love is definitely at the core and it’s what keeps me motivated in my personal life to follow Him and to live my life for Him and in my ministry to share His love.  I wouldn’t have anything to sing about if it wasn’t for His love in my life.

And also on the alter call end, I’m beginning to see testimonies from people who were at a concert ten years ago and gave their lives to God and are now in ministries or got serious about their faith and are now in some kind of leadership ministry position passing on the hope and the love of God, so it’s pretty neat to be in Christian music for this long and be able to see what God is doing. I really couldn’t be more fulfilled.”

Jesus, King of my heart
Father, my peace and my light
Spirit, the joy of my soul You are

Jesus, to you none compare
Father, I rest in Your care
Spirit, the hope of my heart You are

The heavens declare You are God
And the mountains rejoice
The oceans cry Alleluia
As we worship You Lord
For this is our Song of Love

Jesus, You save my soul
I'll thank You forevermore
Jesus, the love of my life You are

- Song of Love

“I felt that I’ve really discovered His grace in the last year and a half.  But definitely at 8 I remember just going wow, God knows everything about me and He loves me enough to send His Son to die for me.

I feel like I did grasp it at that point, but 20 years later at this study center in the Swiss Alps where I visited during my sabbatical, I felt like God just really allowed me to rediscover the fact that I can’t do anything to earn His love, you know, it’s just given to me.  I rediscovered the beauty and freedom of that.

It’s something when we allow God to change us instead of putting weight on ourselves and somehow thinking that we can change ourselves.  It can’t happen if you’re trying to do it on your own, but when you trust your life to God, that’s when the real change happens.

I think sometimes we feel as humans that we better get ourselves fixed up before we come to God but in fact we just have to come to Him as we are and then let Him change us from the inside out.  That’s really what He was saying, “Rebecca rest through my love,” and that’s true grace.”
